Dan Maguire fires double as Blyth batter Chester

Striker Dan Maguire scored twice as Blyth Spartans stunned Chester to win 8-1 in the National League North.

25 year-old forward Maguire gave the hosts the lead on 14 minutes, firing home under keeper Grant Shenton from the edge of the six-yard box.

Kieran Green doubled the lead on 18 minutes before Jamie Holmes made it 3-0 on 42 minutes.

Sean Reid headed home a Jarrett Rivers corner on 55 minutes for 4-0 and a Howson own goal made it 5-0 just five minutes later.

Substitute Adam Wrightson made it 6-0 on 66 minutes.

Chester got a consolation goal on 70 minutes through Stopworth but Blyth made it 7-1 thanks to centre-back Nathan Buddle in the 75th minute.

The rout was completed by ACHIEVE client Maguire in stoppage-time as he tapped in for his second goal of the match from Wrightson’s square pass.
